Student tackles debt by busking

A student who is struggling to get by due to student loan debts has turned her hand to busking in an attempt to get through university.
Laura Humphries, a 22-year-old from Hartlepool, is studying in London as a trainee doctor and is currently £12,000 in debt, the Hartlepool Mail reports.
She wants more to be done to help students with debt problems cope with the rigours of student life, when many do not have the time to take on part-time work.
"It was just to get a bit of money as I'm about £12,000 in debt because of my student loan. My medical course is six years long so the debt is ever more increasing.
"Being a doctor is definitely what I want to do but I do think we should be given more help. My parents have supported me but I don't think it's fair they should have to do that."
And those who think Laura's debts are the product of a lavish student lifestyle would be wrong. Since moving to the expensive capital, she has starting going out less and saving money on supermarket own-brand labels.
