Open door for Durham debt advice

An organisation in Durham is urging people who are struggling with debt in the post-Christmas period to seek help over their finances.
The group, that is run by the national charity Christians Against Poverty and the Emmanuel Church, provides a debt counselling service in Framwellgate Moor, the Northern Echo reports.
For the past three years, advice has been offered to anyone needing help with their debt problems and is a welcome place to go if money problems are starting to become overbearing.
Janet Adams, the centre manager, told the paper: "Debt can happen to anyone of us, it is no respecter of what you earn or who you are and its effects can be devastating; ill health, immense worry, despair and hopelessness."
The organisation has found that there has been a lot of people seeking help recently, no doubt increased by the amount of money people spent during the holiday season.
