Football supporters to feel the pinch of promotion

Supporters of successful football teams will feel the pinch as their teams are promoted, according to a new survey.
Virgin Money has said fans of teams like Hull, West Brom and Stoke City will spend an addition £100 million on supporting their teams in the Premiership.
The money will go towards new season ticket applications, extra replica shirts, increased matchday spending and financial products linked to the teams.
Matchday spending across the three clubs will account for £31 million this season, with one in ten fans admitting they will spend more on food, programmes and merchandising.
The Virgin index has found a three per cent increase in the cost of being a regular football fan in the past three months alone.
In contrast, supporters of teams which have been relegated will spend less on their team games and merchandise.
