A leading retailer and a local authority have been the latest to provide their employees with financial advice and tips to help them withstand the current economic downturn, it has been reported.
The Home Retail Group and Kent county council have launched schemes operated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), in order to do their part in helping workers "make the most of their money", according to EmployeeBenefits.co.uk.
As part of the scheme, staff are given tips covering many aspects of personal finance, from mortgages, investments and savings to credit ratings and borrowing.
Jane Vivier, reward adviser at the council, told the website: "Even though there is a credit crunch and debt may be an issue for employees going forward
we wanted to give them the tools and information to make positive decisions about making the most of their money."
As a result of the programme pilot run by the FSA in June, 86 per cent of council workers who had attended seminars said they planned to try and make changes to their personal finances for the better, the source claims.
