The brother of a woman who committed suicide because she couldn't cope with her debts has hit out at banks that demand repayments with threatening letters.
Last July, 26-year-old Lisa Taylor was found hanging after she had taken on debts in excess of £14,000, Sky News reports.
Much of her debt was made up by her student loan, but after graduating she had taken on more debt through credit cards of several different banks.
She was unable to find a permanent job and despite moving back home to live with her father could never shift the debts she owed.
She was finally pushed over the edge when she received a letter from Barclays Bank asking for repayment on her graduate loan.
Her brother, Mark, said: "I simply don't understand how banks can sit back and watch someone getting into a helpless situation like this while all the time threatening legal action."
